This book is unlike most diet books, in that it is also a mini class in how the body works, what nutrients are important, if not mandatory, and how to achieve wellness resulting in natural weight loss. It's not about calorie counting, reducing fats and jogging for miles, it is instead about educating yourself and being aware of your own body, its personal needs and just what makes it run smoothly. Tweak that towards your goals, and you have it. Basically, it's about banishing what doesn't work and adding what does. Joan is a lay person friendly author and does easy job of explaining the basics of nutrition. In part 1 she writes of the good, the bad and the ugly of proteins, fats and carbs and thankfully agrees with my education and philosophy that proper fats are not only good for you but essential to good health for so many reasons. She properly addresses insulin, the importance of regulating and simple ways to do it. She dabbles in Nutrigenomics (genes), crazy important gut microbes, and Epigenetics (your environment).
Part two is about lifestyle. How to read your body, and be aware of how certain foods affect you. Some can handle carbs, others cannot. Some can handle dairy, others cannot. Some do well with large amounts of proteins and meats and others just don't feel well after consuming them. Rewiring your brain, so you eagerly, mindfully, and happily eat appropriately for your body is important. If you don't love what you eat, chances are pretty good your lifestyle change will fail. It will not be true to your heart and soul.
Part three is about how to reboot your body. Simply remove from your diet the items she suggests that are proven to be inappropriate foods for just 21 days, the slowly add back some of them and see how you feel. This is just not about removing, however, because if you are only taking away, it feels like lack. There are suggestions on what to add as well. She has included a chart to print off and fill out so you can do a comparison in how you feel and see if and symptoms you currently possess, have been eliminated. The trick here is if they make you sluggish or bloated, or give you pains, or restlessness.. they don't agree with you.
Part four, the final chapter, gives us plenty of recipes, a list of 20 super foods, and how to eat well for less. All in all, this is s good book for beginners and anyone who who needs a reset to better health and weight loss. There is little to none mentioned about the subject of emotional eating, but given her field, I suspect that could be another whole new book. I received the kindle edition of this book from Hay House. The review is my own opinion.

Scrum is a book that should be read and considered by not only programmers, but any business management. You really can get something out of it that is valuable to the success of a company. Taking a route away from the waterfall method is a bit like learning to walk again. Cross functional teams, evaluating progress, small team accountability and willingness to adapt to what works and scrap what doesn’t is ingenious and logical. This method has worked well with many successful corporations as well as some large and crucial US government agencies in ways that I was unaware of. This method was designed for companies and organizations. However, I have a small company and by using this method, I was able to narrow down successful products, locate time and money wasters , then organize my business so I knew what to focus on and where to not waste my time. I was able to help my business be more successful with.. Less work… I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be more organized, more successful and make better choices. I received this book from Blogging For Books and it is an unbiased review.
